Roma Through the Arch
Roma Through the Arch - Is an acrylic on canvas piece of artwork that shows the view of Roman architecture through an arch. The clear blue sky with white clouds adds to the mesmerizing effect of the view. The original photograph was taken on our visit to Roma Italy. We fell in love with the city at first sight. The ancient Roman architecture is absolutely captivating. The Italian Stone Pine is one of the symbolic features of this ancient city. These pine trees are found throughout the Mediterranean region occurring in Southern Europe. Just by having a look at the present city, one can imagine what grandeur and pomp Roma must have been at the time of its zenith. This specific artwork is painted from a photograph that I took through an arch in the Forum of Roma Italy. It shows the Palatine hill and one of the palaces (which is now in ruins) of the emperors and aristocrats, who once lived there in all the pomp and grandeur. I would love my viewers to have a glimpse into this absolutely mesmerizing city and want to visit it at least once in their lifetime. If you are a history lover, like me you will definitely love Roma. It is an absolute treasure trove of archeological finds. The palatine hill (the most famous of the seven hills in Roma) that you see through this specific arch holds the once famous opulent palaces of ancient Roma. This specific palace is now closed to visitors, as the room walls have caved in and hence one cannot enter them. It can only be viewed externally. Roma has indeed come a very long way, as to what it was in those imperial times. I remember, when we were in the city, the officials had stopped work of a railway line, as they had discovered the ruins of yet another palace. Makes me wonder, sometimes - what may be hidden below the land on which we stand, must surely be years and years of undiscovered history. What do you think???
